I always thought I was eating healthy. I made food choices with the knowledge that I had at the time, but somehow I still ended up feeling like something wasn't right. I often got sick, struggled with sugar cravings, needed caffeine to get me through the day, was taking blood pressure medication at a very young age, and felt like I was constantly depriving myself from the foods I love. I began a journey to find a better way; I knew there had to be one! When I look back at the way I was feeding my body, I find it hard to believe I thought I was being healthy! To nourish our body and promote our health, we need to feed ourselves with foods that give us the nutrients our bodies crave. If we don't, no matter how much we eat, we will never feel satisfied. Today, I find that my taste buds have somehow 'reset' themselves. I actually crave foods like kale or a fresh piece of fruit. I no longer feel like I am depriving myself. In fact, I find eating to be even more enjoyable than ever. I know this is because I am feeding my body with foods that not only taste good, but foods that are nourishing. I can enjoy every delicious meal without any guilt or regret, and I can eat what I want. It doesn't get much better than that!
My Training My passion for nutrition, health, and well-being led me to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I received my training as a Health Coach. IIN is an amazing school that provides a cutting edge education, with a curriculum that includes over 100 dietary theories. It is the only nutrition school that combines the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts such as the glycemic index, macrobiotics and raw foods. Highly respected guest speakers present a learning experience that integrates both Eastern and Western philosophies, which promotes new ways of thinking that challenge traditional theories on nutrition and 'diet'.
I am certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners as a Holistic Health Coach. In addition, I hold a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy from Daemen College in Amherst, NY and I have been practicing as a PT since 2001.
My Philosophy
I believe that we each have the power within us to be healthy, by making better choices with the foods we eat and the life we live. If we all take the initiative, we can become a nation that exemplifies preventative health and personal well-being. My goal is to help you achieve this power, and live in the balance.
